Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most successful fantasy adventure franchises currently being developed in Hollywood. Its new sequel coming out this year is called Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which makes it the fifth film in the series. Directed by the tandem of Espen Sandberg and Joachim Rønning, the film will try to capture the feel and the overall tone of the first film in the series, The Curse of the Black Pearl, which has been arguably the best received by both the audience and the movie critics.
The plot of the new film follows Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, who is being hunted by his old enemy Armando Salazar, played by the brilliant Javier Bardem. Salazar leads a ghost pirate crew from the Spanish Navy and desires to annihilate every other pirate sailing the seas. To stop him, Sparrow must use the help of his new friends and allies to find the mythical Trident of Poseidon. With this item of power Salazar could be stopped, but the race against time already started for Sparrow. Aside from the main stars, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will once again see Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom return to their old roles, while the always fantastic Geoffrey Rush will once again fill the pirate boots of Hector Barbossa.
Now, all hopes are stacked that the film will be a success both critically and at the box office, being that it had a rough couple of years in development. Initially, the film was scheduled to be released in 2015, but this was moved to 2016 and then to this year because of budget and script problems. However, under the helm of the experienced producer Jerry Bruckheimer, these problems were solved and now the wait is almost over for all Pirates of the Caribbean fans. The latest sequel of this swashbuckling adventure will open in the movie theatres all over the world, both in conventional form and 3D formats on May 26, 2017.
